Confidence testing
Regardless of where you are located, your local fire marshal requires that your fire alarm system be tested and inspected for proper operation on a regular basis.
Normally, this needs to be performed annually, although some occupancies may require semi-annual or even quarterly testing.
Our confidence test program is second to none in terms of code compliance and attention to detail. Typically, a confidence test includes the following:
1. Check all initiating devices (smoke and heat detectors, pull stations, water flow switches, etc.) for proper operation.
2. Smoke detectors are cleaned during each test and checked every other year for proper sensitivity using UL-approved methods.
We use the Gemini smoke detector tester as well as devices approved for specific brands to ensure that all smoke detectors are within their operational parameters.
These tests will identify defective detectors before they become a real problem.
3. Check all notification appliances for proper operation. This includes all horns, strobes, bells, chimes, voice systems, etc.
4. Perform full check of all panel electronics per manufacturers’ recommendations.
5. Check all backup batteries for proper voltage and available backup power.
6. Check all supervisory devices, such as sprinkler tamper switches.
7. Provide a full report based on the National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA72). We provide this report to the building owner and to the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.
8. Identify any deficiencies to the owner and provide a written estimate for any necessary repairs.
9. We are confident that our level of quality is second to none. Give our service department a call and we will be happy to develop a plan to fit your facility’s needs.
While we are primarily an electrical contractor, we have excellent working relationships with several fire sprinkler, fire suppression, backflow preventer and fire extinguisher contractors and can offer combined packages to meet all your fire and life safety needs.
